Dear Partnership Friends and Members,

The P3 Board of Directors and staff stand in solidarity with the AAPI Community against anti-Asian hate. We recognize that anti-Asian racism has existed for centuries in America, and that Asian people have been subjected to an unacceptable rise in hate crimes and violence over the last year.

To members of the AAPI community in Providence, in Rhode Island, and across our country - your experiences are valid. Please know that we are committed to stopping Asian hate - by educating ourselves about the systemic racism that affects the Asian-American experience, and by learning from, listening to, and uplifting the voices of the Asian-Americans around us.

As an organization that works with people in all neighborhoods across Providence, we understand that systemic racism is a barrier to people receiving the resources they need, and a barrier to self-advocacy and community engagement. When we fail to call out anti-Asian violence, we fail to address these barriers, and send a message that Asian voices in our community aren’t worth recognizing. We are aware that a statement is not enough and we are committed to actively exercising everyday acts of anti-racism.

Let’s acknowledge the racism and grief experienced by members of the AAPI community around us, educate ourselves about the history and extent of anti-Asian racism, and continue to take action in our everyday lives so that we can build a community that better supports all voices.
