This Fall was a second successful season for Produce in the Park (PIP)! PIP is a program in neighborhood parks that provides fresh, local produce to residents of PVD. The program began this summer as a way to activate public spaces as hubs for healthy food, so that those experiencing food insecurity during COVID could access nourishing food in a safe way. PIP is also a huge economic support for nearby farms. We’re proud that PIP has evolved from 20 interested Park Friends, to 120 registered participants on day one of the summer program, to ~300 registered households by the end of the fall program! Thanks to the Friends of Cabral and Mount Pleasant Parks, the City of Providence’s Parks and Recreation Departments, City Councilor John Goncalves, Majority Leader Jo-Ann Ryan, Brown Market Shares, and Cricket Wireless for their support of the program!
